Un merveilleux projet ! A wonderful & heart-warming project!

Il me fait un immense plaisir d'annoncer la venue d'un merveilleux projet juste à temps pour le temps des fêtes qui fera chaud au coeur à tous les participants. Je m'adresse à toute la communauté du Petit Mouton pour tricoter de petits ours polaires qui seront exposés dans la vitrine de la boutique pour ensuite être distribués à diverses organisations de bienfaisance locales dans le but d'apporter un sourire sur le visage d'un enfant. La boutique vous fournira le patron et la laine nécessaire au projet. Je vous demande simplement de retourner votre ours terminé à votre convenance mais au plus tard, le mercredi 25 novembre. Il suffit d'environ 3 heures de votre temps pour tricoter l'ours polaire. Et, ce n'est pas tout ! Tout au long du mois de novembre, la boutique tiendra des sessions de tricot et mettra de l'espace à votre disposition où vous et vos amis(es) fervents(es) du tricot pourrez travailler ensemble à la fabrication de vos ours. Nous désirons ardemment que cet événement se traduise en rassemblement communautaire pour cette cause merveilleuse. Les dates des sessions de tricot seront annoncées la semaine prochaine. Nous espérons que vous serez des nôtres ! Veuillez noter que le nombre de kits et de bourrure est limité. I am excited to announce a wonderful and heart-warming project in time for the Christmas holidays. I am reaching out to the Petit Mouton community to knit up little polar bears, which will be displayed in the shop window and then donated to various local charities to bring smiles to young faces! The shop will supply the pattern and yarn, and all I ask is that you bring the finished bear back to the shop by Wednesday, November 25. The polar bear knits up in about 3 hours! AND the excitement continues! During the month of the November, the shop will hold some knit-a-long sessions, where, if you wish, you & and other knitting friends can come work on the polar bears. We really want this to be a community experience! Knit-a-long dates will be announced next week. We hope you will participate in this awesome experience! Please note: We have a limited number of yarn kits and stuffing available!

Vous devrez apportez de la laine peignée (worsted), des aiguilles à tricoter de 4.5 mm, un petit crochet et des fournitures habituelles, telles que des ciseaux. On Saturday, October 17th from 1-4 pm or Sunday October 18th from 1-4 pm join us to learn 4 ways to add beads to your knitting with knitting & beading expert Flo Flory of Toronto, Ontario. Dorothea

Dorothea is a big shawl knit in a geometric lace pattern that is worked from the center out. Dorothea is knit using Berroco Fiora which is new in stock for us in 12 colors. The skill level for this pattern is intermediate. You can find the pattern to download here and on Ravelry here.

Fiora, with the stitch definition of cotton, the drape of viscose, the bounce of wool and the shimmer of alpaca, it's an artisanal blend of the finest fibers. It's mix is 40% Cotton, 30% Rayon / Viscose, 15% Alpaca, 10% Nylon, 5% Wool. This DK weight yarn has 225m/246 yards.

Sylvia Olsen est une conteuse, historienne et designer accomplie, une auteure lauréate et une experte du tricot Cowichan. Pendant 15 ans, elle a acheté et vendu des chandails Cowichan à partir d’une boutique située à l’arrière de sa demeure dans la Réserve Tsartlip tout près de Victoria en Colombie-Britannique.

Sylvia Olsen is a master storyteller, historian, knitter, designer, award-winning author, and Cowichan sweater expert. She spent fifteen years buying and selling Cowichan sweaters in a shop behind her home on the Tsartlip Reserve outside of Victoria, BC.

Le coût de cet atelier inclus un patron et de la laine poids Lopi  de couleurs naturelles, si disponible. Les participants doivent apporter un ensemble d’aiguilles double pointes US 10 / 6 mm et une aiguille à tricoter circulaire, si désiré.
 

Cost includes a toque knitting kit with a pattern, and lopi-weight wool in natural colours if available. Students should bring a set of US #10/6mm double pointed and if desired, circular needles.

 

La gamme de coloris de « Coast Salish » est une unique combinaison de motifs d’animaux et de formes géométriques.  Plusieurs diront que le caractère exceptionnel  de cette technique est l’aspect granité du travail qui apparaît sur le revers. Cette technique est unique et diffère du câble et du jacquard. Apprenez comment tisser les fils de 2 couleurs dans chaque maille pour réaliser l’élasticité et la beauté du revers que l’on retrouve dans le tricot Cowichan traditionnel. Bien que cette technique soit unique, elle est utilisée par d’autres groupes et elle n’a pas été inventée par les artisans de Coast Salish.  Cependant, ces derniers, l’utilisent à grande échelle depuis plus de 80 ans.

Coast Salish colourwork is a unique combination of animal motifs and geometric designs. Many say the truly unusual part of the technique is when you turn the work inside out and see the amazing pebbled look. The technique is very different; it can't be called either stranded nor jacquard. Learn how to weave two colours into every stitch and achieve the elasticity and interior beauty found in traditional Cowichan knitting. While this unique technique is used elsewhere and was not invented by Coast Salish knitters, they have used it extensively for more than 80 years.
